About Video to GIF

Video to GIF extracts a series of still frames from your video, entirely in your browser, with adjustable frame rate (1–15 FPS) and capture duration (1–10 seconds). Each frame downloads individually as a PNG. Note: it doesn't currently assemble the frames into a single animated GIF file, and there's no support for pasting a YouTube or other video URL — only local file uploads work.

How to use Video to GIF

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this produce a single animated GIF file?

Not currently — it captures a set of still frames (FPS × duration) that you download individually; combining them into an animated GIF requires a separate tool.

Can I paste a YouTube link instead of uploading a file?

No, only local video file uploads are supported.

How many frames can I capture?

Up to 15 FPS for up to 10 seconds, so as many as 150 frames.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No, everything runs locally in your browser.

Tips & Tricks

  • ✓Combine the downloaded frames using a dedicated GIF-assembly tool if you need a true animated GIF file.
  • ✓Frames are captured starting from the beginning of the video — trim your source video first if you need frames from later on.
  • ✓A lower FPS (5–8) is usually enough once frames are assembled into a GIF elsewhere.
  • ✓Higher FPS and longer duration settings capture more frames but take longer to process.
