About Video Tools
Compress Video, Video Converter, Filter Video, and Resize Video send the video to our own server, where ffmpeg re-encodes it. Rotate Video, Video to GIF, Merge Videos, Trim Video, and Screen Recorder use that service only in some modes. Video to Audio, Add Watermark to Video, Extract Frame from Video, Video Metadata Viewer, Media Player, and Subtitle Generator work in your browser instead. On the service, the uploaded video is deleted when processing ends and the result once the page has downloaded it, or when the job expires.

Frequently asked questions
Which video tools upload my file?
Compress Video, Video Converter, Filter Video, and Resize Video always do. Rotate Video does in "Compatible everywhere", required for mirrors and for formats without a rotation setting. So do Video to GIF for the GIF, Merge Videos unless the clips can be copied as they are, Screen Recorder for "Make an MP4", and Trim Video, which sends only the piece around a "Precise cut" it estimates at over 45 seconds locally.
How large can a video be?
1 GB per file for Compress Video, Video Converter, Filter Video, Resize Video, Rotate Video, and Video to GIF. Trim Video takes up to 300 MB on a computer and 100 MB on phones and tablets; Merge Videos 2 GB in total on a computer and 700 MB on phones and tablets; Add Watermark to Video takes videos of up to 2 minutes.
Is there a limit on how many videos I can process?
Yes, on our server: it counts jobs per connection per hour and per day, and merging clips that cannot be joined as they are counts one job per clip. Tools that work without the service, such as Video to Audio, are not counted.
Can I rotate a video without re-encoding it?
Yes, for MP4, MOV, M4V, 3GP, and 3G2 files whose rotation setting can be rewritten: the "Instant, lossless" mode of Rotate Video changes only that setting and refuses a mirror. Mirroring and other formats need re-encoding on our server.
Tips and tricks
- ✓Video to GIF can also save up to 150 PNG frames, extracted in your browser instead of on our server.
- ✓Clips with identical settings (all H.264 or all HEVC, AAC sound or none, same size, frame rate, rotation, profile, pixel format, codec header, and sound format) are joined by Merge Videos without re-encoding or upload.
- ✓Write subtitle lines in Subtitle Generator, then load the SRT or VTT file in Media Player to check the timing.
- ✓Screen Recorder is not available on iPhone and iPad, whose browsers cannot capture the screen.
