Translate PDF content to any language with AI
Click to upload a PDF file
PDF Translate extracts text from the first 5 pages of your PDF in your browser using PDF.js, then sends up to the first 3,000 characters of that text to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI's API for translation. The result is plain translated text, not a new PDF — there's no reconstructed document with the original formatting, images, or layout.
Is PDF Translate free to use?
Yes, it's free with no signup required.
How many languages does it support?
10: English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, and Russian.
Will the formatting of my PDF be preserved?
No — the output is plain translated text in a text box, not a formatted PDF. Images, layout, and structure aren't recreated.
How much of my PDF actually gets translated?
Only the first 5 pages are extracted, and only the first 3,000 characters of that extracted text are sent for translation — longer documents get cut off.
