About Add Watermark to PDF
Add Watermark to PDF stamps text in most scripts, or a PNG or JPG picture such as a logo, on the pages you choose. Place it in one of nine positions or repeat it in a staggered mosaic, turn it by 45°, 90°, 180°, or 270°, set its opacity, and draw it over the page or below the page content. Text the standard font cannot write, such as Chinese or Arabic, is drawn with your device's own fonts as a transparent image, so a script with no installed font shows as boxes. pdf-lib draws the mark into the pages in your browser.
How to add a watermark to a PDF
- 1Choose the PDF.
- 2Click "Text" and type in "Watermark text", or click "Image" and use "Choose image (PNG or JPG)".
- 3Pick a position or check "Mosaic (repeat across the whole page)", then set "Rotation", "Layer", the pages, and the opacity slider.
- 4Click "Add watermark": each page in the range carries the mark in the -watermarked.pdf file under "Download".

Where your file is processed
The watermark is drawn into the PDF by pdf-lib in this browser tab; neither your PDF nor your logo is uploaded. Text outside the standard font is rendered by the browser itself into a picture before it is placed. A PDF with print or copy restrictions is decrypted in the browser first, and the watermarked copy carries none.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my logo as a watermark?
Yes. Click Image and choose a PNG or JPG; a PNG keeps its transparency. Set its width as a share of the page width; in a mosaic the width is capped at 25% so the copies fit on the page.
Can the watermark go under the text?
Yes. Choose Below the content: the mark is drawn first and the page's text and pictures sit on top of it. On a scanned page or one with a full background the page then hides it, so keep Over the content there; the result message reminds you.
Does it work with Chinese, Arabic, or Cyrillic text?
Yes. Text the standard PDF font cannot write is drawn by your browser with your device's fonts as a transparent picture, then placed like normal text with the same position, rotation, and opacity.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Set From page and To page; leave To page empty to go on to the last page. Pages outside that range are left untouched.
