About Image Converter
Image Converter changes the format of one image or a whole batch. It opens PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, iPhone HEIC/HEIF, Photoshop PSD/PSB, SVG, JPEG XL, EPS and PS, and camera RAW files (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, and more), and writes WebP, PNG, JPG, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, PSD, or PDF. RAW files are developed with LibRaw, using the white balance the camera recorded. Every result shows its new size next to the old one. An animated GIF or WebP becomes a still image of its first frame, and each image gives its own file: PDF output is one page per image, not a combined document. Files are converted one after another in your browser, except EPS and PS files, which our own PDF service turns into a PDF first (first page only).
How to convert images to another format

Where your file is processed
Your images are decoded and re-encoded inside your browser; Photoshop files, SVG drawings and, in browsers that cannot open HEIC, HEIC photos are opened on the page first. No image is uploaded, except EPS and PS files: browsers cannot read PostScript, so our own PDF service turns them into a PDF with Ghostscript, then deletes them, and the page draws that PDF. The AVIF and WebP encoders and the LibRaw decoder are downloaded from our site the first time they are needed. When a file fails, a report goes to our error log: cleaned message, file extension, size range, tool name, browser name, and version.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert camera RAW files?
Yes. CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG (iPhone ProRAW included), ORF, RW2, RAF, PEF, and the other listed formats are developed at full resolution with the camera's white balance and color matrix. Measured on a 24 MP file: about 10 seconds in Chromium and 40 seconds in Firefox. Sigma X3F files are refused, since their colors cannot be developed correctly here.
Is there an image size limit?
Yes. Each image can be up to 100 MP on a computer and 50 on a phone or tablet, which covers 48 MP iPhone photos, and each file up to 100 MB. A larger file is skipped with a message naming it.
Can I make WebP or AVIF files on an iPhone?
Yes. Safari, like every browser on iPhone and iPad, has no WebP encoder of its own, so libwebp compiled to WebAssembly makes the WebP; AVIF always comes from a WebAssembly encoder, in every browser. Each encoder is fetched from our site when you convert to its format; on a computer, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox make WebP up to 30 MP with their own encoder instead. AVIF takes longer than the other formats.
Do PNG and TIFF keep every pixel?
Yes, both are written without loss. JPG, WebP, and AVIF are lossy and follow the "Quality" slider; GIF is reduced to 256 colors with dithering; BMP has no transparency and is flattened onto white; ICO is resized to the icon sizes.
Does PDF output merge the batch into one file?
No. Choosing PDF here gives one PDF per image, each page the size of the image at 72 dpi. To put several images in a single PDF, use Image to PDF.
Tips and tricks

- ✓For a favicon with sizes you pick yourself, including 24 px, use PNG to ICO.
