About TIFF to JPG
TIFF to JPG converts a TIFF image, such as a scan, a fax, or a photo exported for print, into a JPG for viewers and websites that do not display TIFF. Set the "Quality" slider (it starts at 90) and the color transparent areas should take. For a file with several pages, the first conversion tells you how many there are and lets you pick another page. The decoder is UTIF.js: 1 to 32-bit integer gray and RGB, palette, and 8-bit CMYK TIFFs are read, the orientation tag is applied, and a color profile, which is not applied, is reported. The file is decoded and encoded in your browser.
How to convert TIFF to JPG

Where your file is processed
The TIFF is copied into a Web Worker inside your browser, decoded there with UTIF.js and written as a JPG, by the browser or by MozJPEG in WebAssembly for images over 16.7 MP and in browsers whose workers cannot draw images. The file is not uploaded. Failures send a report: the cleaned error text, extension, size range, tool name, and your browser's name and version.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a page other than the first one?
Yes. After the first conversion of a multipage TIFF, the page says how many pages it has and shows a "Page" box. Type the page number, then click "Convert to JPG" again; reduced-size thumbnails stored in the file are not counted as pages.
Is the TIFF's color profile applied?
No. A profile such as Adobe RGB is not applied, so colors can look duller than in a color-managed editor; the page says so under the result. Convert the image to sRGB in your editor first for faithful colors.
Can I convert a 16-bit TIFF?
Yes. It is converted to 8 bits per channel, the depth of a JPG. The darkest and brightest values actually present are stretched to black and white, so scientific or scanner files that use only part of the 16-bit range do not come out near-black.
Why did the conversion stop?
The decoder went 20 seconds without finishing, far longer than a normal TIFF needs, which usually means a non-standard LZW variant. The message suggests re-saving the file with Deflate/ZIP or no compression.
